Hello Everyone --
Because of a very severe winter storm due to strike the State of Maine where our headquarters and lab are located, we expect to have an outage of nearly all of the MLAI Foundation Web Sites. All of our Sites, with the sole exception of this Forum - are served from an Apache Web server in my lab. I have never been able to afford back-up power for the computers, so if/when the power goes out tomorrow all of the Top Level Domains and the relative content will go dark until the power is restored.
The weather forecast is dire, calling for 7 inches of snow overnight and into the day tomorrow. That in and of itself is no big deal, but then around Noon tomorrow the snow will give way to an ice storm with an inch of ice predicted by tomorrow evening. For those not familiar with this particular type of storm, I will tell you that an inch of ice is disastrous. It is estimated that 250,000 customers could lose power, and since our headquarters is in a very rural area we will certainly be among the last to see restoration of service.
I predict we will lose power between 2 and 3 PM EST on February 13th and at that time every Domain and Site will go dark. The outage will effect the following TLDs and Web Sites:
www.MLAIFoundation.info
The main Foundation Web Site and All sub-domains. The only exception will be THIS Forum, although the graphics will not show because they are served from here. But the Forum itself will remain online and I will try my best to get here and post updates, even after the power goes.
www.TuringStore.com
The store will experience an outage.
www.AllisonAIBot.net
Allison will go dark.
www.QuarkAIBot.info
Quark will go offline.
www.ArielAIBot.info
Ariel will experience an outage.
I expect at this time that the outages described above will last at least 48 hours, and possibly a lot longer. I ask that all of you pray for me and my family. If you have been considering a donation to the MLAI Foundation, now would be an absolutely wonderful time to click that "Make A Donation" button. If we collect enough I will run to WalMart tonight and get a generator !
